Coffee

Roaster: Fresh Roasted
Type: Whole Bean

Description: A year ago when I was looking around for good coffee on the net, I happened across this place.  What sold me on them was the statement that the coffee is not roasted until the order comes in.  I love that!  It means that it takes about 5 days to get your order but you are guaranteed the beans are fresh roasted.  And they are.

I just ground 23g of beans for my half liter press pot.  And man did those ground smell nice.  Potent dark Brazil.

This place is worth giving a try.  They used to carry a Columbia Santa Barbara Estate, which was my favorite, but no more.

Roaster: Happy Mug
Type: Whole Bean

Description: Happy Mug is one of those companies I would have overlooked just due to the odd package art.  But judge not a bag-o-beans by its packaging, ok.

So, these guys are one to watch.  I refresh their page every day because there are new allocations popping up several times a week.  And they go fast.  I order a bag, it arrives in two days, I try it — and if I hesitate some of these will vanish in a week.  Guessing they get very small batches.

HM seem to specialize in African coffees.  The beans smell and taste like they’re flavored, but that’s the just the natural flavor of these cherry pits.  They are amazing coffees.

Roaster: New Day Coffee
Type: Whole Bean

Description: Very happy with many of the whole bean coffees I have purchased from New Day.  I was just looking for another Santa Barbara Estate and found these guys.  This coffee is worth every penny.  It’s nutty, chocolate and earthy.  And the aftertaste lingers . . .

Very good value.  I always keep a bag of this around, especially for people who live cream in their coffee (that’s me out you see).  Cream compliments this cup very well.  But it’s even better black.
