Beringer Vineyards

Beringer has it all.  They have several tasting rooms, a lovely old house, caves and a wonderful winery to visit.  I mean, they’re 151 years old.  And they get ample traffic.

We did the cave tour (images below).  Having been to a number of wineries with caves, this one was the shortest cave distance that we’ve seen.  Some wineries have a mile or more of caves.  But Beringer’s are set up more as museum.  Still, they’re cool.

And talk about history!  With 151 years in the making, they have plenty to share.  They talk about their formation, their involvement in Prohibition and their history up to the present.

But the cool thing about Beringer is that they have great wine.  And they have wines in just about ever price range from supermarket Knights Valley Cab to their higher end wines at $350 per bottle.

One of my favorite things about Beringer is their single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.  They source from seven vineyards in Napa Valley.  And every one of these is stellar.  

This is a really great place for a tasting whether you want posh or just history.
