Platt Vineyard

Just off of Sonoma Square, across the street from Walt and next door to Autuer, Platt is in good company.  However, their Chardonnays are over the top and beat just about any chard we’ve ever tried.  And the Pinots are stunning.

The tasting is full of information, our host, Chris, was full of knowledge.  He is very in touch with happenings in Napa and Sonoma.

The tasting starts with kind of a short list of 4 wines.  But Chris started bringing out more glasses and more wines to try.  The stunner was the 100 pt Chardonnay.  We nearly agreed with that score.  The wine was full of minerals, intense nose and concentrated, crisp fruit.

Platt has a sister winery in Napa called Outpost.  Chris gave us a blind taste of one of these wines.  After deliberation, we decided it was Grenache — and we were right.  These were also great wines with wonderful intensity.
