Larkmead Winery

Travel from Napa up highway 29 until you pass into the Calistoga AVA and you will find the little road called Larkmead Lane.  The winery is about a half mile down situated across the street from Frank Family.  Interestingly, both wineries share a common history when it comes to the original owner of both properties.

Larkmead’s grounds and facilities are amazing.  They are stunning.  We got to take a walk through the vineyards and the barrel room with our host.  He was really knowledgeable about the soils and clones they use.  And we got to geek out on that stuff.  

Larkmead specializes in reds.  They do have a couple stunning Sauvignon Blancs and Chardonnay.  But their red blend and the Cabs are what really impressed us.  They are outstanding and a little under the usual Napa Valley price point.  

What a great story they have — and great facility to do along with it.
