This is a super cool hidden gem just outside Sonoma town square. We called two days ahead and asked about doing an industry tasting and the lady I spoke with was enthusiastic about getting us in, and she had a whole load of time slots we could pick from.
Andrew poured for us and spent a very adequate amount of time talking about the history of the winery and the vineyards. When he found out we were into tearing the wines apart and doing analysis he got into it and was very interested in what we thought about the wines.
They had a set tasting menu of 5 wines, but Andrew had others open and shared them all. So, in all we tried 7 wines. The chardonnays were very pretty wines, but we were there for the pinot noir.
All of the pinots were great, but the Sonoma Coast, the 5 Clones and the ViMaria were exceptional. Absolute flavor bombs, super balanced and lovely. We wanted to spend more time with them.
Sangiacomo sells a lot of their grapes to other wineries, and they have a display in the front of the tasting room showing dozens of bottles from other wineries that purchase their grapes.
Great experience and well worth the price of admission!
