Tres Sabores

When you’re just about to St Helena, you turn onto Whitehall Lane and wind your way almost to the end of the long one lane road.  And at the end you find the idyllic paradise that is the Tres Sabores farm and winery.

Forget about the wine for a second.  This place is biodynamic, organically certified and lush.  There are goats for weeding, a huge veg garden and lots of bushes and trees with many things edible.

The wines are lovely.  Everyone of them surprising in scent and flavor.  They’re interesting wines that have a firecracker kind of intensity.

On site, we got to meet the wine maker, Julie Johnson.  This is sort of unheard of in Napa.  Wine makers are ghosts.  But Julie was just making her rounds and stopped to talk to us.  It is really nice to be able to give positive feedback to someone other than the sales staff for a change — don’t get me wrong, we love the Napa sales teams.

Price point here is great, and the wines are amazingly good.  This place is really worth the visit, even if you’re just coming to pet the goats.   Also, they’re dog friendly.  Love!!!
