When I was younger, I worked for Quilceda Creek Winery up in Snohomish Washington.  Al Golitzen was the owner at that point and his uncle was Andre Tchelistcheff.  At the age of 18, knowing nothing about Napa, I had no idea with whom I was sitting next to having dinner and talking about wine making.  But yah, I’ve met Uncle Andre as they called him.

So, going to BV is a treat.  It’s like making a very old connection.  And there is a statue of the great man in the courtyard in front of the tasting room.

Weeks ago, we joined the De La Tour club because the wines were that good.  Yes, they’ve been purchased by Treasury Wine Estates, but after doing two tastings at BV, they seem to be in great hands.  The wines prove it.  These are stellar mid to upper 90s-point wines.

The tasting facility is amazing and they’re adding more member tasting space in a few years.

Check out their clone 4, clone 6 and clone 169 Cabs.  We thought these were even better than the classic Georges de Latour private reserves that we tried.  And the Hewitt Vineyard Cabs are something to remark about as well.  These guys are well worth the visit.
