Jessup Cellars

You can find Jessup Cellars tucked away on Washington St in Yountville, Ca.  It is right there with The French Laundry, Bouchon, Model Bakery, Hill Family Estates winery, Bistro Jeanty and so many other favorites!  If you stay in Yountville on your visit to Napa, you are within walking distance of dozens of amazing places to taste wine and eat food.  

Jessup Cellars is a lovely tasting room filled with a revolving art collection — yes it doubles as an art gallery.  The art serves as a backdrop for a wonderful, bright, open facility.  

They have great, knowledgeable staff that know everything about the winery and the wines that they pour.  The wines themselves are really amazing.  The whites are rich, balanced and very enjoyable.  But skip ahead to the reds!  The Zin is really lovely and comes from some really old vines.  But if you are a merlot or Cabernet Sauv person, you will be in the right place.  The Merlot is rich, full bodied and full of intense flavors.  But the Cabernet Sauv was our favorite.  From the bottle it is not clear which AVAs the grapes come from, but they show the fingerprint of having some of the fruit originating from Atlas Peak.  You get deep blackberry, potting soil and licorice.  Gorgeous, seductive, intense wine!  This is a great place to visit, and the price-point is less than $100 per bottle.
