Todd Taylor

In order to find the Todd Taylor tasting room, you first have to head to the Old Sugar Mill in Clarksburg — 35265 Willow Ave, Clarksburg, CA 95612 

Currently, there are 13 tasting rooms tucked away in the huge brick edifice that used to be a sugar beet processing plant.  Todd Taylor is in the main hallway on the left.  You’ll see the signs.

I first found Todd Taylor’s tasting room back in 2008 while riding my motorcycle down into the Sacrament delta.  But on the way out of Sacramento, a cold front came through which I was not dressed for.  I was freezing.  I went into the Sugar Mill and walked up to the first tasting room with heat lamps.  I hung around for a short tasting, long enough to warm up.  And left after joining their wine club.  We have been club members ever since.  

Todd is known for his Zins, Cabs and Primitivos.  But he also creates Pinot Noir from Russian River Valley and Tempranillo from Clockspring Vineyard in Amador County.

His prices are great with most of the wines other than the Cabs being around $35.  The Cabs run in the $90 range.  Join the club and get 20% off.  His standouts are the reserve Cabernet Sauvignon and the Clockspring Zinfandel.  This is a winery to check out.
