The name of this game is Bordeaux blends. All the fruit comes from the sunny, hot region of the Yakima valley. The cool nights are what make this amazing wine possible, and it enables the growers to maintain a lovely acidity in the wines.
The tasting room is in Woodinville, Wa with dozens of other wineries. Mark Ryan, a favorite of ours, is in the same plaza.
The tasting room is spacious, but there is also a second story and great outdoor seating. But enough of that.
The blends these guys do with Bordeaux varietals are amazing and varied. They have Cab Franc heavy blends, Merlot heavy blends, Malbec heavy blends. And of course they have right bank/left bank styled blends. We didn’t try anything here that wasn’t 93 pts or above. It’s all good.
A point to make: when my mom was alive this was one of her favorite wineries. I wish I’d gone here with her. I see what she was on about. Here’s to you, Ma!
