Mt Veeder is a lovely place. And the Fontanella property is up the among the oaks located next to a large pond. The tasting room and facility are not large. And they use part of their storage area to help other wine makers make and store wine.
I had one of the nicest, least snobby tasting experiences I’ve had in a long time. This is more like Amador County. My host was a great guy with a ton of knowledge and poured at my rate. It was a very friendly time. I was offered a barrel sample as well of a 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon to compare with the 2020 version that he poured next. It was a nice comparison.
The wines were very nice, especially the Cabernet Sauvignons which were rich, thick, full bodied with ripe, full tannins. At $90 bucks a bottle before any discounts these wines are worth the money for the lovely mountain fruit you’re getting.
