Perri Jaye

A Pinot friend set up the tasting for us last weekend at Perri Jaye Vineyards.  Very glad for it as well.  In the process we met a lovely couple and got to spend time tasting their wines and learning more about the wine industry in the Sebastopol area.  

The winery is basically a garage facility where Perri produces 100 cases of wine every year.  She also helps others with their production.  But this is what makes Perri Jaye Vineyards so remarkable as a winery.  So many times, we’ve visited these small wineries, the “mom and pop” places that are hidden away — and so many times we’ve been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the wines.  These places that are hidden gems, that are off the beaten path are worth seeking out.

We arrived at the house and met Perri and her husband Carmen.  Very sweet people, down to earth and knowledgeable.  After a tour of the property, we sat in the shade at a lovely table and sampled through the wines.  She has a Rose’ of Pinot and three vintages of her standard Pinot Noir.    The Rose’ was top notch.  And the pinots were everything you’d expect from the Sebastopol neck of the woods where Pinot Noir seems to thrive.

Perri Jaye Vineyards is a super find if you’re into small production, off the beaten path Pinot Noir.  These wines are excellent and so are the folks that make them!
