Tolenas Winery

Tolenas Winery is just off the I-80 freeway in Fairfield, Ca.  And because it’s just off the freeway, it has the benefit all that wind that pours down through the gap in the hills that we like to call the Cordelia gap.  That wine pours from Vallejo east toward Fairfield.  And temps can run 15 degrees cooler in the summer than just 5 miles away in Vacaville.  Because of this Tolenas has enough cool mornings that they actually produce a lovely Pinot Noir that ripens perfectly with the right amount of sugar and acid balance.

But that’s not all they make.  they have one of the best Rose’s of Pinot Noir and a blended Rose’ wine as well.  And while it lasts –because it goes fast — they have a great Albarino and Sauvignon Blanc.

The wines are always lovely.  The tastings are inexpensive.  And the little house and grounds where they host the tastings is really cute.

This is a winery to keep on hour radar.  Their consistent wines and great prices make Tolenas a great choice to visit when visiting Suisun Valley.
