Turnbull Wine Cellars

Turnbull is dedicated to its terroirs and its Cabs.  They get their grapes from all over Napa Valley.  And they do so many individual vineyard wines.  But they also do a Merlot, a Cab Franc, some blends and a few other interesting varietals.

However, it’s the Cabernet Sauvignon grape that dominates their menu.  They have incredibly complex, concentrated, nuanced, lovely wines.  The Cabs shine here.  You can tell their going over the top with their attention to detail in wine making.  The tannins in these wines are velvety and ripe showing long post maceration to soften them.

These wines are great.  So, on that note.  Yes, some of the wines are pretty expensive.  These prices are tempered a little if you are in their club or have an industry discount.  But then you sit with one of their sales staff/educators, you see why the prices are higher.  Add together, top notch vineyard management, high property and grape prices, no expenses barred wine making techniques and a gorgeous facility and you get a pricey bottle.

But after a thorough tasting we felt that there were definitely some deals to be had on the menu.  Some wines were more stellar than others.  

Go check out this beautiful place and taste the wines.  It’s well worth the tasting fee.
